Another Day in Paradise…

Another Day in Paradise…

Being able to stay home and take care of my family daily is a task I’ve enjoyed the entire duration for as long as I can remember and I even enjoyed it when my children were younger. I  have been blessed even when I lived on very low income and it can be done at times I just had to make sacrifices as to what’s more important than the other or as to when. I can honestly say I live and have a very full filling life today and God and my faiths have been a huge part of this.

I’m proud to call myself the the homemaker of my home and such. In other words I do it all and enjoy it. I take care of my home and do all things domestic and at times otherwise or when it’s needed, sew and read all types of very interesting books.  My two favorite hobbies are reading and sewing and yes reading had t come first. I am a bookworm! What would the world be like without books? I couldn’t even imagine.  and there is never a time I don’t have a bookmark in a book, or two or three, here in my home. This is one bookshelf and I currently have books stored in the bottom of a desk that I’m slowly but surely turning into a book case or when I find the right book case or thrift find, of course, I will invest in  it and add it to my home. I know, I know, the big Kon Marie going on it’s the biggest new thing when it comes to decluttering but sorry books are one thing I want to keep and purchase more of! Hopefully one day I’ll have a new library and I’m working on my book selection here looking much better than it does believe me!

But first, this room has been my catch all while I declutter all through the house because Spring is coming fast and I want to be ready. It’s just ordered a  common thing that has to be and I can’t live without. What haven’t I decluttered and I believe I’m just about there:

Yes, I know it’s been quite the tasks allow me to make that plural and it’s probably overwhelming just seeing the photos here.

I had a coat closet off from my kitchen that I really needed the use of if you recall last year it was my cleaning closet. I decided after I read a blog post about POU, point of use that I could move all of my cleaning supplies to the hall closet and I could finally move the towels that had been under the bathroom cabinet since this place was purchased and  this place along with all the other accessories that were crammed in there I could finally move them to the hall closet like I have been wanting to do forever. I wish I could remember the blogger and blog post but right now I don’t. I do like to give credit where credit is doing.

I tackled my bedroom closet and I knew it was going to be a dreaded chore. It had been for a while but, I have to prepare for Spring and Summer coming behind it and as I worked on all of it a little each day it has all come together. I just shared the photos all together and I hope it’s not too confusing.  Id live in a mobile home, it’s an older one nothing to fancy but I loved older and antique anything! And I want to get my sewing machine up and going but that’s an entirely different blog post. It works fine I just haven’t used it for a while. We’ll move on and I will tell you about my latest hobbies!

As I said I’m sewing or reading and these are the projects I’ve chosen to work on for a while and they’ll keep me content and busy!

My Journey As A Housewife Photos 110

I picked up Reese Wither spoon’s Whiskey in a Teacup, her new book and it’s been a really interesting read. My favorite chapter is the chapter she writes about hot rollers and no spoiler alerts you’ll just have to read the book and I don’t want to spoil it for you. It’s such a nice book to just curl up one evening with and have a hot tea or coffee and binge read even though I haven’t had the time, I would love to.

It’s such a pretty book inside and out and Reese also writes about her family and growing up in Tennessee. It comes with recipes from her grandmother that I can’t believe she shared and I’m definitely trying her grandmother’s sun tea!

As far as my sewing projects I’ve chosen a few. I ordered a small needlepoint just for practice because I have a Thomas Kincaid cross stitch I picked up that I’m excited about starting on. Since I haven’t done cross stitch or embroidery for a while I am using this one for practice. I will probably be working on my cross stitch quilt and my Thomas Kincaid both at the same time. I can’t wait to see how my quilt turns out either. I will show you my pattern though.

These are what I’ll be having fun with and enjoying working on. The tool is an auger if I spelled that right. It’s a hand made antique drill and I saw it and thought it to be a unique piece. It would really look nice hanging somewhere even if hanging in my garden area. Just a thought who knows.  The dear sewing machine I have neglected to use. but I hope to be using it soon. I want to attempt to make some house dresses and other clothing in time. They would be absolutely cool and comfortable for Spring or Summer.

If your a blog reader as I am and you sew I have found a website I have been reading at daily and it’s called:

Bee Humble With Me … Again… Jan. Is Gone Hello Feb.

It seems I have to stay with beehumblewithme.com during:

My Journey as Housewife..

It’s where my blog originated from and I can’t still enjoy and follow my journey as well as others in:

My Journey as a Housewife!

I do hope you’ll still follow along. I originally wanted the word humble. in the name of my blog because of course I want and hope to humble others by my writing, what I do each day, the great books I read and walking through every day life as strong, empowering woman.

Great Books I’ve been reading.

Court of Thorns and Roses series

Another good I picked up for bedtime and bedside reading. I’m anxious to see what she has to say about the south!

Whiskey in a Teacup book

My favorite on Netflix has been what can say scintilla please!

Anne and Bell her love in a horse
Great pic of Anne then them songs start

Anne with an E and what a fabulous show!

Around the house I’ve declutter and moved things around and made my original coat closet from a cleaning closet to a coat closet and cleaned out my hall closet and stashed it with fresh towels, cleaning supplies and a very special placement for my cast iron skillets! It turned out fabulous, of course I have quite a few boxes to move to the pit building. Plenty of time it’s winter.

And of course all is well at home days I have when I just want to curl up with S book and then again I have days where I can’t get enough cleanliness and organizing in. I have yet to watch Linnaeus on Netflix because if there is anything I want my home to reflect it’s Joy! As she has started. More than like I’ll be pitching several things. I see a yard sale coming in the Spring. Do other feel like I do? I have so much! I want to and can be happy living with less! I’ll be on a roll.

My new Netflix favorite is Life Below Zero! It’s pretty amazing how these people live and a person could really learn so much. My husband and I love it! Yes we are still happily married! Joined by my son which makes me so happy!

Hall closet make over
My hall closet

All the family in my home seemed to want to hang there coats all over or on my kitchen chairs so I’m hoping this does the trick! I thought about a coat rack my the door but why when I have a perfectly use able coat closet that had been being utilized for a while for my cleaning closet it all worked out and I am very pleased even though I procrastinated about it for some time. Don’t we all do that?

Our Pets Stubs and Bella

Bella and Stubs are still happy as ever in the family! Bella is growing like a weed. Potty training well let’s just say it will come in time because at times she misses. They eat well and that makes for happiness for our fur babies. They’ll be even happier tomorrow when their chewy. come box arrives.

Bella is getting a new collar I can’t seem to find one big enough to fit her, a bed for her, a bed for stubs, next, some rest flavored bones, and a big hug of tasty treats! One thing at a time right. Stubs sleep with my son Bella with us but I’m hoping they’ll like there beds. Bella is going to get much bigger. Their both such great dogs for family.

Four Seasons in 7 days and What Must We do with our time? Be domestic of course…

It’s rained, snowed, had some sunshine the rain, rain, rain. We must have a creative mind and imagination and yes love a clean home as a housewife even though I respect all women with careers I just do better at home now and it works for our family.

For sure a blog will be posted. I’ve been so busy and there’s only do much time in a day and time gets away from us plus I’m always engulfed in a book!

My current read that I’ve had reserved!

I’ve had this reserved at the library and it finally came in.

I’m in love with this kitchen decor! Found it at a store called Jimminy Crickets & love her prices!

I’ve done so much cleaning and decluttering lately. I think that when many of us get this done is winter time. I miss my warm weather and I have to find things to do indoors even if it is cleaning or decluttering and you don’t realize how much you accumulate until you get into the task of doing it.

My son thought it would be cute to curl her ears back! So cute!
Sweet Bella she’s growing!

Still taking care of my Bella and Stubs there family. It’s been a tough task getting Bella potty train. I’m using the potty pads sometimes she does well at times not. They love each other now. I’m so grateful. I’ve also started making the homemade dog treats, and there so much healthier, budget friendly to make and we all know our bills budget soars in the winter and our low speed months kick in for quite a few months so I’m saving a buck anyway I can. Happy there happy with them and eat them well!

Living room is a mesas while I clean elsewhere!
Always be happy!
A Gift from my son!

Yum! Yum!
A Gift from my son!

This is my oldest son he’s moved here permanently and I’m so happy for this. I feel more at ease with him here. He has a mental illness so I’m especially grateful and my heart no longer hurts for him. He is loved and worthy and I make sure he knows it daily.

Otherwise I’ve done so much cleaning, dusting, organizing and decluttering. These are the things we find to do to fill our winter days or so least I do.

I took a break for a while and my number 1 goal is to blog more. Yes, I’ll be doing  blogs on goals for sure for 2019. Most bloggers do, just remember they must be realistic. That’s the trick to it.

Dinner this evening was beans, cornbread and fried potatoes, it was delicious and a very fulfilling meal I added shredded carrots for color and they turned out nicely! Very filling with even some leftovers. Good for the budget when we can reuse left overs.

Living room and can’t you just tell I’m elsewhere cleaning and cleaning!
“Don’t let the sun go down on our anger! Sure we all have it at times!

I love my counter display I even put my own twists on them and add southern charm always! Organization and order in life is a have to for me and a must! Make it fun !

I change mine up at times probably to much.

I’m looking forward to all of our 2019 goals end anxious to see what we accomplish through out this year !

Let’s have a wonderful year and endure the persevere thatd6yhe key to weather the storm no matter and still praise Him through our storms.

Way past my bedtime and until next time dears! We do live in the country and sleep peacefully however, it’s late!

I have a loving husband that is my best friend, my son is happy here and:

Today I choose Joy!

With great books all the classics!

Are We Line Drying Clothes £ Ironing?

Are We Line Drying Clothes £ Ironing?

I find myself looking more and more for housewife blogs and I’m always reading. Most days my television isn’t even on and doesn’t get turned on until my husband arrives home until after 6 in the evening. It’s a great way to save on electricity. I came across and interesting book and had to read some of it. The name of it is:

The Art of Homemaking

There was a chapter on laundry and I think we’ll all find that if we’re choosing to save, have our wardrobes last long and be consistent about encouraging ourselves to iron plenty in our lives we will all enjoy all that’s listed here.

My mother was a stay at home housewife and my father worked at General Motors. I remember hanging clothes on a clothes line and using a ringer washer as a young girl and they do get your clothes clean!

Since it is now the Spring season I thought it would be the perfect time to bring these factors to light when it comes to doing laundry and the art of it.

Things the French Know About Laundry:

1. Use different stain fighters for different types of stains.

Whether using a stain pen on sauce, mustard, or ink of some color instead of keeping the same formula in your laundry room for stain fighter there’s a better way. Grass stains are not the same as ink stains and stains are different on silk. Explore the different stain removers for different types of stains that are out there.

2. Air dry

Don’t machine dry delicate clothing. We as Americans want to stuff huge loads of laundry into a huge size washing machine. Dry on a clothing line or invest in a clothing rack. This saves on electricity and dryers are to be avoided unless absolutely necessary. It causes more wear and fade on our clothing.

3. Iron Everything- Invest in a small hand held steamer that you can pull out to prep your work or dress apparel for the day at hand. You’ll still look dressed up and presentable but you won’t have to devote your weekends to ironing every single piece of clothing.

4. Always check garments and turn them inside out. Ironing may be a little dreadful or ambitious for some of us but this is a tip for everyone. Reversing garments helps protect them and prevents the metal from jeans or other attire from scraping the inside of the washing machine or even the dryer if your choosing to use it. A simple extra step that takes only a few minutes.

5. Learn to Fold everything the right way. Ironing jobs will be useless without the proper folding techniques.

I hang and fold every item as soon as its done being washed and dried whether on the line or in the dryer. Another way to save is to tumble dry an article until it is wrinkle free and still damp and then just hang as usual until it is dry.

Are we hanging clothes on the clothes throughout this spring and summer.

My Spring Cleaning Agenda…

My Spring Cleaning Agenda…

Hi everyone! Welcome if you have never visited here! So glad you stopped by and I have been trying to get to this blog but, life gets busy and I’m sure if you have a career your double busy.

My journey as a housewife over the years has become my career and I love and enjoy it what a gift! As I have stated. I commend the women that are out there in the career world but

I am happiest at home.

I’m sure others like me have started their spring cleaning.

If you like to read as I do here’s a great book for the housewife and homemaker.

She lives a very strict homemaker, housewife, Christian life and the entire book is I think 63 pages and it was really an enjoyable read. I wanted it on my bookshelf for which I ordered it from amazon. com.

Now let’s get down to the spring cleaning agenda. I’ve decided with all the sunshine, the smell of fresh air, my chickens clicking and the roosters giving us our 5a.m. wake up call that I’m going to enjoy it because the power is in the process.

I awoke a little earlier than normal this morning thinking about the “have to be done”.

Honestly, yesterday took it easy and did the normal “tidy up” but where I had done so much the day before I was quite wore out and I spent the day reading and catching up, taking notes, and had a really good relaxing day and my chickens and dog did to!

I like to enjoy the solitude of the mornings with my quiet time right after my husband leaves for work.

He doesn’t have to be at work until 9 o’clock and we really have time to enjoy the morning. It’s always chilly in the mornings but still it’s enjoyable.

I had to go and check on the chickens and gather eggs, because when it was time to return to the chicken house they fell into a single file line and it was just adorable! They were inside all tucked in and ready to perch for the night.

By this time I’m pretty well caught up and grateful for some time to sit down go in a little more in detail into my Bible studies and what book or books I may be reading.

.

I can’t say I’ve ever heard a women say she chose housewifery as a career for the usual reasons that one will go into a field of choice and having the skills required for a certain job. When my husband and I married let’s just say when people here get jobs they keep them and there are not many jobs here and I have ended up being a housewife throughout our marriage and it’s worked out so well and I really get to enjoy the process of my life as a wife and housewife and I do so much.

In these enlightened times, we have learned to listen to our hearts, be ourselves, and do what ever pur hearts desire to fulfil us throughout our day. Were not going to win a Novel Prize for being a housewife or it be the first paragraph you write to a letter to a friend or send in a card. But I’ve recently discovered it’s a new perspective when I come across all I read about life as a housewife.

On him depends the food for the family, and all other areas of life that we have to pay for in life.

It’s up to me to find a “ray of hope” if nothing else, women are “the mothers of men” and I’ve read this man places in our day and age.

Young mothers trying to raise little humans into productive adults, not to mention working to provide a clean house, healthy meals, and all the rest that hangs over our heads because our work doesn’t come with a paycheck but what does come with it money can’t buy.

It’s something isn’t it? That society values work more when it attached to an income.

We can sweep a floor, toss a salad, mix up dough for bread, yet were still just housewives and I’ll take it and continue to enjoy the abundance as I do.

How do we describe spring cleaning? I’ve read it’s been described as “drudgery”. But I think today the there is more or less drudgery in house cleaning.

I have begun my 2018 Spring Cleaning, but instead of getting discouraged or annoyed with all I have ahead of me to do I plan to take advice I’ve read about:

“This spring I have decided to work out my own plan of escape from drudgery. I am going to take a lesson from Mother Nature herself. I shall son the prettiest and frilliest aprons when I go outside. I am going to step out”-oh, anytime in the first part of the morning, nine o’clock if I feel like it-under the trees, into the garden, up and over the hillside; watch the birds arrange their summer cottages; smell the intoxicating scent of apple blossoms from my neighbors apple trees, and go to sleep at night listening to the rain against the window pains or the sound of wind in the many trees around us. Knowing for a certainty they will accomplish their ever new and lovely process of Spring rejuvenation and knowing that I too, even as I do a small portion of my work at a time, making room each and everyday for other insights and interest more pleasurable than housework. I to will find I can have the house just as sweet and clean, my tasks just as amply done if I take each one as it comes. Not crowding or over whelming myself -and without worry or thought as to the days that just beyond my reach. Sun, wind, rain, it is all in the glorious scheme of a Spring day and I’m so glad this season is here.

As this was stated on:ahousewifewrites. com a blog I came across and was reading about a housewife.

Visit her blog it’s wonderful!

Three or four cheers for Mother’s easy way of house cleaning!

Don’t rush the process and enjoy it ladies!

Welcome and Happy Spring to all of us!
